La Dolce Vita at the Hotel Italia

La Dolce Vita with tradition and glamour

Relaxation, glamour and well-being: these are words that sum up La Dolce Vita, which made Italy world-famous in the 1950s and ’60s.
When you stay at the Hotel Italia in Siena, La Dolce Vita is no longer just a fond memory. Chosen as a leitmotif in the hotel decor, La Dolce Vita is also the perfect inspiration for your stay in Siena. When you enter the hotel lobby, you will be welcomed not only by our smiling staff, but also by the faces of famous actresses such as Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Indeed, the walls in our public areas are decorated with portraits of Hollywood stars, enhanced with vivid touches of colour.
Because the concept of La Dolce Vita combines a desire for both simple and sophisticated ways of life, the hotel decor is also a blend of tradition and modernity. On the one hand, the rooms are furnished in a Tuscan farmhouse style, with terracotta tiles, wooden flooring and exposed beams, suggesting all the warmth of a traditional Italian family welcome. On the other hand, the bright spaces with their contemporary decor and stylish images of Hollywood stars recall the glamorous period of La Dolce Vita.

Relaxation, wellness and authentic flavours

Hotel Italia offers you comfortable rooms in a relaxing setting, far from all the noise and bustle: a view of the Sienese landscape from your private balcony, a warm bathroom with a courtesy set and iconic images of the stars of cinema. And during the summer months, you may well be tempted to go out in the Tuscan sunshine and take a dip in our pool.
But La Dolce Vita is also synonymous with good food and authentic flavours. Our breakfast buffet, with a wide selection of homemade pastries and fresh products, provides the perfect start to the day before you head out to explore Siena and the local area. Our staff will be happy to give you advice about places of cultural and natural interest, and food and wine routes near Siena.
And when you return, you can relax for a while on the sofas in our reading room, or take advantage of our free “Coffee Corner”, available for use 24 hours a day. Or, as in Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, where time is punctuated by cocktails on the Via Veneto, you can sit in our attractive bar and have a chat over a drink.

La Dolce Vita on two wheels

Thanks to a famous scene in the film Roman Holiday, the Vespa entered our collective imagination, becoming one of the iconic symbols of the Dolce Vita years. As a tribute to this famous moped, we have mounted a special three-part image opposite our reception desk, composed of photos of Vittorio Gassman, Gina Lollobrigida and Audrey Hepburn, each on the saddle of a colourful Vespa.
This delightful trio may encourage you to go on a two-wheeled tour of central Siena, which is closed to cars; or suggest a relaxing ride in the countryside outside the city, with its hills, vineyards and quiet roads. What better way to discover the true meaning of La Dolce Vita?
